Power Supply Issue Grounds BA
The computer problems which hit British Airways over the Spring Bank Holiday Weekend were caused by a power supply issue according to BA Chairman and CEO, Alex Cruz.
IT system failures grounded hundreds of flights and left thousands of BA passengers stranded at Heathrow and Gatwick. Disruption to airline operations lasted right through to Monday May 29th and may cost BA £150m in compensation claims.
Now, nobody knows the full story of how a power outage could bring down the computer system of a multi-billion pound business like British Airways. What it does reveal, however, is that problems happen to even the biggest and best.
If your organisation needs power to function properly then you need at least an option of a back-up power source, one that can be up and running in minutes not days.
