Glastonbury Powered by Biodiesel
This year’s Glastonbury Festival will be powered by a fleet of 230 generators running on Biodiesel.
The internationally renowned event attracts 170,000 visitors to the Worthy Farm site in Somerset. The Festival has a reputation for adopting environmentally friendly technical to cope with issues such as power generation and waste disposal.
The generator fleet is being operated by Aggreko and uses a specialist telemetry system to monitor and manage power usage around the site. Over 60,000 litres of hydro-treated vegetable oil (HVO) will be needed to keep the lights on for acts such as the Foo Fighters, Radiohead and Ed Sheeran.
It’s a fascinating example of how the generator industry is keeping pace with changes in technology to provide decentralised power generation.
